I've been bugging Missy to let me try to install some trim work in the house, so she let me do the nursery. We think it turned out great.
I kept the original 4.5" baseboard, added 50 lineal feet or 3.5" chairrail, 120 lineal feet of 1.5" trim for the shadow boxes (which made 12 boxes) and 40 lineal feet of window casing.
Took about 14 hours including cutting, installing and painting. Total cost was $120 (including paint).
Missy thought it was a pain, a lot of detail work, but I didn't think it was too bad, learned some lessons as always.
I am going to be doing the same thing in our new baby room! I think that your room looks really great and I love that it is a lot cheaper than doing it the other way. I am curious what you learned along the way. I also learn new things when I do projects at home. It is always nice to learn from other people about short-cuts or things to avoid/do. Any help would be great! Thanks, Jim
